Complete SULGAN N range

  • When to use SULGAN N

SULGAN N is a topical treatment for hemorrhoids.

Haemorrhoids are varicose veins in the lower rectum and can occur both inside and outside the anus. The condition usually manifests itself through itching, burning, pain and, in severe cases, bright red superficial blood in the stool during bowel movements. This can sometimes lead to tears in the anal mucosa (anal fissures), inflammation and eczema in the anal area, increasing the risk of infection.

Treatment with SULGAN N helps stop itching and pain, reduces inflammation and alleviates the discomfort caused by haemorrhoids.

SULGAN N preparations are used for internal and external haemorrhoids:

SULGAN N ointment: External and internal haemorrhoids, anal eczema, superficial tears of the anal skin (anal fissures), mild inflammation and itching in the area around the anus.

SULGAN N suppositories: Internal haemorrhoids, superficial anal fissures. On the advice of a doctor or pharmacist, the suppositories can also be used to treat mild inflammation and itching in the lower rectum.

SULGAN N medical wipes: For anal hygiene in cases of haemorrhoids, anal eczema, anal fissures, as well as mild inflammation and itching in the anal area.

  • How often should adults use SULGAN N products?

SULGAN N ointment: Apply 1 to 2 cm of ointment to the affected areas two to three times a day. For internal haemorrhoids, screw the enclosed cannula onto the tube. Insert the cannula into the anus as far as it will go and then slowly withdraw it while gently squeezing the tube.

SULGAN N suppositories: In the evening, carefully insert 1 suppository into the anus. Bedridden patients can insert a suppository two to three times a day.

SULGAN N medical wipes: Cleanse the anal area carefully and thoroughly as needed.

If symptoms have not improved or significantly diminished after 1-2 weeks of treatment, or if they worsen (e.g., bleeding from the anus), you should consult a doctor. The doctor will decide on further treatment.

Repeat treatments should only be administered after a doctor's diagnosis and should not exceed 2 weeks at a time.

Follow the dosage instructions in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think this medical product is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or chemist.

  • What is the triple active formula in SULGAN N?

The active ingredient complex of lidocaine, camphor and menthol is specially formulated to treat haemorrhoidal conditions. Lidocaine provides rapid pain relief, camphor has anti-inflammatory and anti-itch properties, while menthol has both anti-inflammatory and anti-itching effects along with a cooling sensation.

  • Can SULGAN N also be used if there are wounds in the anal area?

If there is blood in the stool or open wounds, SULGAN N  preparations must not be used. Your doctor will know what to do in such cases.

  • Can SULGAN N be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Based on current experience, there is no known risk to the child when used as directed. However, no systematic scientific studies have ever been conducted. As a precaution, you should avoid using medicines during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, or ask your doctor, pharmacist or chemist for advice.
